Date Night With Baby

In an ideal world, we would all have reliable sitters available to take our babies off our hands for weekly date nights. In reality, though, I know way too many new moms who haven’t been out with their significant other for months!

What to do? Try venturing out for a date with your baby at one of these spots, all tested personally by yours truly with the help of baby Lana!

A Show Under the Stars @ Miller Outdoor Theatre

6000 Hermann Park Drive
Houston, TX 77004
The 2016 season at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park is starting March 18. You can choose from a wide variety of music, dance and theater performances on weekend and weekday evenings. Bring a blanket and sit on the lawn where the little one can stretch out or move around! Free parking available at the Centennial Gardens parking lot, or along Hermann Park Drive.

Wine and Cheese @ 13 Celsius

3000 Caroline St
Houston, TX 77004
This elegant wine bar offers wine (bottles or by the glass) paired with cheese plates, cured meats, and yummy desserts. Plenty of space for baby to sit or crawl, or to bring in your stroller. Come Saturday 4:00PM-6:00PM, when the bar is quiet, with few other guests. Avoid during busy times — it gets loud and not too baby-friendly.

I should also note that many of the servers at 13 Celsius are rather snooty, whether you have a baby with you or not. Maybe it comes with the territory of being a fancy wine bar? We deal with it because we like the food, wine and ambiance. If you go, let me know if you have more luck with the service!

Happy Hour @ 8th Wonder Brewery

2202 Dallas St.
Houston, TX 77003
Walk through the bar to the huge outdoor space, perfect for a baby in a stroller, crawlers, walkers, etc. Enjoy beer, music, and snacks or dinner from the Eatsie Boys food truck. Note: you will need to carry or push your stroller down ~4 steps to get to the outdoor area.
